One of the most underrated features of Flash CS5 is the new XFL file format. But there is some confusion out there about what it is and how to use it. This quick post will hopefully clear some of these things up.

Google is about to launch WebM, an open video format that will use VP8, the flagship video codec of On2. As you probably remember, On2 has been recently acquired by Google.

NewTeeVee reports that Google will soon open source VP8, the latest video codec released by On2, a company acquired by Google for $133 million.

Open Web Analytics (OWA) is an open source web analytics framework written in PHP. OWA was born out of the need for an open source framework that could be used to easily add web analytics features to web sites and applications.
The OWA framework also comes with built-in support for popular web applications such as WordPress and MediaWiki. As a generic web analytics framework, OWA can be extended to track and analyze any web application.

Dygraphs is an open source JavaScript library that produces an interactive, zoom-able charts of the present time series. It is mainly designed to display the dense data sets and enable the users to explore and interpret them. It is a JavaScript Visualization Library.

Le site officiel de la Maison Blanche “whitehouse.gov” est passé sous Drupal. Ce CMS open source est déjà utilisé par les départements américains de la Défense, du Commerce et de l’Education, et l’Administration générale des Services.
Il est parfois difficile de se retrouver dans la masse d’outils open source pour le développement qui existe sur le web. Grâce à une idée originale de Mozilla, retrouvez les applications sur tools.mozilla.com. Elle sont présentées dans l’espace et se placent aléatoirement dans votre fenêtre. Vous aurez surement l’occasion de découvrir comme moi des outils que je ne connaissais pas : Doodle (pour l’objet Canvas), Style Master (pour les CSS) ou encore Favicon-generator (pour les favicons).
